Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation

For many people, heart disease can be preventable. Even if you are at higher risk because of things you cannot change—such as family history or other factors—you can still lower your risk by making healthy choices. And if you have already had an illness, then it is very important that you stick to the recommendations that your doctor has given you. Research shows that participation in cardiac rehabilitation improves outcomes for many patients.

But it may be difficult to get started, or to maintain the changes that are recommended. Our team of experts will work with you to devise a plan for a heart-healthy lifestyle that’s right for you. And, you’ll learn how to make it work. You’ll receive personalized education, encouragement, and the tools to make the changes you want to make in your life. People in the program learn how to change their diets, quite smoking, and get more activity. Our highly-trained professionals not only teach you; they also give you real help and encouragement so you can be successful.

Our Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Center is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. This certification demonstrates that we uphold the highest standards of professionalism, expertise, and care.

Women’s Cardiac Institute

Heart disease is not just a men’s problem. Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of women today. Coronary heart disease, heart failure, and stroke are the 3 forms of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Cardiovascular disease should not be treated lightly. And a woman should not receive the same healthcare as a man—her symptoms can be different and so can her treatment needs.

Studies show that women with suspected CVD are less likely to be referred for diagnostic testing or to be given aggressive early treatment. So it is doubly important that you take an active role in your own healthcare.

That is why we created the Women’s Cardiac Institute. Our focus is on both prevention and treatment. Our multidisciplinary program includes risk-reduction and prevention, advanced diagnostic imaging, the latest in treatment, and rehabilitation. And because we are part of an academic medical center, you may be able to participate in a clinical trial that can give you access to treatments and therapies early in their development.

We can help you learn about and manage your unique risks with a comprehensive evaluation and training program that is designed just for women. If you require treatment, we offer all necessary diagnostic, testing, and treatment, specifically geared for women.

Our expert team of female cardiologists is dedicated to meeting your heart health needs. These accomplished cardiovascular specialists work together to provide the highest quality prevention and care, integrating the most recent advances in cardiovascular research and medicine. Whether you have an emergency, a chronic condition, you are newly diagnosed, or you are looking for ways to minimize your risks, you will find high-quality, compassionate care designed specifically for your needs as a woman.
